LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga - LEVEL DESIGNER/DIRECTOR
Creating clear and concise level design documentation, making sure it’s clear for the development teams to read and understand the direction of the level, from its use of character mechanics, story beats, artistic details, audio cues, voice overs etc.
Implementing grey box level design blockouts to highlight level direction, expected use of mechanics, level scope, representations of environment and much more. Including in-engine annotations or storyboarding on where everything is expected to be placed for artists and code teams to work within.
Present levels to senior management, stakeholders and development team to walk through what is expected and discuss any potential risks involved, confirming the work detailed in the level design documentation and answer any questions related to the level.
Test, play, review and provide feedback at key production milestones for all levels being developed to make sure the work done meets the expected design.
Additional design related tasks across the wider game - Level navigation, collectables and prop placement, quest naming, tracking full playthrough requirements, implementing text strings etc.
I also got the opportunity to receive media and presentation training which then allowed me to represent the team at E3 2019, conducting gameplay presentations and taking part in interviews with well known publications during my time there.
